A consultative process by a large number of experts from UN agencies, academics, donor agencies and civil society organisations, including Terre des Hommes, has led to set out 9 Recommended Principlesfor Children on the Move and Other Children Affected by Migration .

These principles aim to improve the quality of protection afforded to all Children on the Move and Other Children Affected by Migration and to enhance programming, accountability, advocacy and communication.

They are based on the recommendations set out in the Committee on the Rights of the Child’s 2012 Day of General Discussion Report on “The Rights of All Children in the Context of International Migration” .

Moreover, many of them correspond to binding obligations already widely ratified by States.

As a workable tool, they are intended to address policy makers and other stakeholders and to offer guidance for measures to be taken on the rights and the needs of Children on the Move and Other Children Affected by Migration.
