More than 43 million people worldwide are on the move
Osnabrück, 19.06.2013 – Worldwide, according to United Nations estimates more than 43 million people are fleeing. Almost half of them are children under the age of 18. In order to protect these children and to strengthening their rights, Terre des hommes is running the Destination Unknown Campaign. The campaign aims to protect children who are fleeing from wars and armed conflicts or have left their homes because of poverty, environmental degradation, lack of life chances or forced labor. “Our partners take care of them ensuring that children are cared for and fed when crossing an international border. Children who are moving within their own country, receive adequate accommodation, education, medical and psychosocial care” said Sonja Welp, children’s rights expert at Terre des Hommes Germany.
