Join us for a special event created and led by girls and young women advocates and activists from around the world, as they share their experiences, challenges and key messages for policy-makers on girls’ and young women’s inclusion in decision-making.
Around the world, girls and young women are driving change. They are activists and advocates on the front lines of movements for social and racial equality. They are calling for urgent action and demanding space at decision-making tables in their communities, countries and beyond. Just being a girl is often enough to be denied freedom of expression and an equal chance to participate in decision-making.
This event, taking place in the context of the 50th session of the UN Human Rights Council, will focus on the voices of girls and young women who are advocates for gender equality in their countries. They will share their personal experiences of trying to influence decision-making processes and which issues global leaders should prioritise to ensure that girls and young women all over the world can have a seat at the table.
Ms. Dorothy Estrada-Tanck, Vice-Chair of the UN Working Group on Discrimination Against Women and Girls, will participate as a guest speaker, to provide insights from the Working Group’s forthcoming report on girls’ and young women’s activism.
